Are you hungry to carry the Father’s heart of compassion to the lost and hurting and to walk forth as Jesus’ hands and feet to the poor, the orphan, and the oppressed? Do you long to see revival in the nations? Do you want to experience God’s heart, to join Him in His deep and world-transforming purposes?Compassion DTS is about connecting with the heart of the Father, locking eyes with Jesus, and walking in step with the Spirit. It’s about breathing in of the Lord’s presence, character, and Word, and breathing out His unshakeable hope, enduring freedom, and transforming love. YWAM Burtigny carries a heritage of compassion and mercy ministries, both within Switzerland and going out from here into nations. The Burtigny base, once an orphanage before it became the second permanent YWAM base, is currently home to YWAM Swiss Mercy Ministries and various Children-at-Risk programs and training. Our Compassion DTS flows out of a long history of what God has been doing in this base and in this nation.With our strategic location only 30 minutes away from Geneva, a hub of international business, political, and social activity, and a city rich with reformation history, the possibilities for service, prayer, and walking forth as Jesus’ hands and feet are endless.Going Into the Nations:
The outreach will focus on reaching the poor and needy, and children at risk, and will take you to into the nations, especially those in the French-speaking world, to put into practice what the Lord spoke during Lecture Phase. This 3-month field assignment will be an opportunity for God to share His heart with us for those that we will meet along the way. We will be ministering the compassion of God to the homeless, the widows, the orphans, the prostitutes, brining a message of love and hope to a world who needs it as well as practical help.
Course dates and fees
The January DTS is a bilingual DTS (English/French) and will run for 24 weeks, starting in January, and ending in September. Fees for the 12-week lecture phase of the school are CHF3,750 (room, board and tuition). There are significant fee discounts for students from developing nations. To know God through revelation by His Spirit in a deep and relevant way. To see His purposes and principles clearly and then be able to walk them out in our lives and the world. The purpose of the DTS 1. To be equipped, along with people of various ages and levels of spiritual maturity, to grow in your relationship with God and develop Christ-like character. 2. To awaken a burden for the world’s lost and hurting people, showing you how you can be an influence for redemptive change in whatever job, country or sphere of society God may call you to. 3. To help you build a solid Biblical foundation for life, including an understanding of the nature and character of God and how to apply his truth and wisdom in everyday life. 4. To challenge you as a Christian man or woman to become active in service in your local church, your local community and in world missions and evangelism. 5. To impart to you an understanding of Youth With A Mission International, its foundational values, calling and opportunities for service. DTS is a prerequisite for all other University of the Nations courses and for serving on staff within Youth With A Mission. The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is the foundational course for all those entering Youth With A Mission and its global university. Radical discipleship means being willing to live a life that pleases God 24/7. It means the transformation of thinking, behaviour, and surroundings (from your house to the nations!). It means nothing less than 100% commitment to growth that will lead to the ultimate fulfilment of your heart and Gods purposes.
The classroom phase lasts for 3 months. Week by week we tackle a different discipleship issue, as well as focus on the world. We invite a new speaker each week to impart to us what they have learned and lived. No two DTS’s are exactly the same, but they share a foundational curriculum. As we pray through each part of the process in forming it, God works with us to produce a unique discipleship structure for those who are led to be a part of it. Going on outreach for another 3 months in smaller teams, gives a wonderful opportunity to live out what was learned in the lecture phase; to put what we have in our heads and hearts into practice. By working with locals on projects, sharing our hope with the friends we make and using the gifts talents and abilities that He has given us we can show our faith by our works. Experiencing new cultures and learning from them enriches our lives as we work along side them to see His kingdom come.
Our desire is that you leave DTS in awe of your God, with a sincere desire to honour Him in every part of your life, and with a biblical understanding that helps you see God’s heart and purposes for the world. We want to send you out with a holistic and clear understanding of your place in the world and in His purposes, transformed and prepared to commit to reforming our societies, cultures, and nations in whatever capacity God may call you.
